The smallest useful upgrade to a train set: a single siding inside the oval. One left-hand point and a curve to straighten up give you somewhere to leave a second train or a rake of wagons.

Good to know
- The siding sits inside the oval, so it adds nothing to the space the layout needs.
- Add a buffer stop at the end of the siding. Hornby sells them separately.
