OO GAUGE · HORNBY SETRACK · SHELF · 6 × 1 FT
Shelf shunting plank, 6 × 1 ft
A shunting layout on a shelf just one foot deep. A headshunt feeds three sidings through two points. It needs no curves, so it fits along a wall, and it is a popular way to start for anyone short of space.

Good to know
- Wagons can only be sorted by running round and shunting, which turns a small shelf into an absorbing puzzle.
- Points are left-hand, so the sidings step towards the back of the shelf.

Checked with the First Radius geometry engine: every joint meets, the track fits the board with the space shown, and no tracks overlap. Figures use Hornby's published setrack geometry; real track has a millimetre or two of play.
